Hi Lukas,
since nobody else answered yet, I will give it a shot.
The GCT is the fruit of an ad-hoc collaboration between several parties
that have a continued need for Globus middleware in the next few years:
OSG, EGI, NorduGrid, CERN and maybe others still.
There is no formal agreement between any of these parties,
but you can be fairly confident we will keep this going for a few years,
while alternative solutions are being developed and integrated steadily
in the activities of each stakeholder. For example, using XRootD and/or
HTTP for file transfers, instead of GridFTP. That is looking good already,
but we may still need a few years to be able to stop using the latter.
There also is GSI: new AuthN/AuthZ paradigms are being investigated,
but we may need to rely on X509 + GSI in various places even longer...

Hi everyone,
I have two questions:
1. How long are you going to provide (security) updates?
2. How is GCT funded?
Cheers,
Lukas
